Smithtown High School West Whisperettes varsity Kickline team have been crowned 2016 National Dance Association Small Kick National Champions. From February 26th through the 28th, the Varsity Kickline team traveled to Orlando, Florida, to compete at the 2016 Nationals High School Dance Team Championships. In addition to the Championship victory, they placed 17th in large varsity pom and seventh in medium varsity team performance.
The West Whisperettes team was also presented with the superior showmanship and technical excellence awards for their kickline routine. The team was nominated for the NDA sportsmanship award.
The NDA National Championship showcases Dance teams from across the country, who have made the journey to Orlando to compete for the title of National Dance Association National Champion. Smithtown High School West Whisperettes were crowned NDA Small Kick National Champions in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2014, the West Whisperettes were crowned national champs in Medium Varsity Kick. The journey back to National Champions was led by Captains Melanie Chonis, Lauren D’Agostino, Richelle Fassler and Melissa Ginex.
