Suffolk County Legislators Leslie Kennedy and Robert Trotta met with the Smithtown High School West Girls Lacrosse team last week, to present each player with a special proclamation. The Division I Champions were awarded for an exceptional season, filled with victories. In the Spring 2016 season, the Smithtown West Girls Lacrosse team finished 13 to 1 in their division and 15 to 2 overall.
In addition to the girls lacrosse teams accolades, Coach Carie Bodo was also named Suffolk County Division I Coach of the Year. Coach Bodo’s recognition within the county, comes after the Smithtown Central School District awarded her with the Coach of the Year award for the entire school district.
About the team: Smithtown G.A.L.S. Lacrosse is dedicated to teaching young girls the fundamentals of lacrosse, sportsmanship, and teamwork in a safe and positive environment. Every team director, coach and parent are volunteers, donating their valuable time and energy toward the girls success, both on and off the playing field.
