Car flips over on its side, critically injuring two
The Nesconset Fire Department and Suffolk County police officers had their hands full last night. On Wednesday, September 2nd, at approximately 7 P.M. a pickup truck was traveling west along Route 25, near Smith Haven Mall, when it struck another car, attempting to make a left turn. The Honda Crosstour flipped over on its side, trapping two critically injured inside.
Suffolk County Police reported that Jeanette Acevedo, was attempting to turn left into the Smith Haven Mall from the eastbound side of Route 25 when the driver of a 2007 Lincoln MKL pickup truck, Christopher Ferchland, struck the 2015 Honda Crosstour from the westbound direction. Ferchland’s pickup truck struck a utility pole, flipping over on its side.
The Nesconset Fire Department had to carefully extract the man and woman in the pickup truck, as they were severely trapped. Both Ferchland and the woman seated in his passenger side were both taken to Stony Brook University Hospital via Nesconset EMS Ambulance and are listed in critical condition. Jeanette Acevedo and her female passenger were also taken to Stony Brook and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating the two-vehicle crash and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the event or have information related to the case to please contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
