High School East Art Teacher, Tim Needles Receives PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator Award
Congratulations are in order, to one exceptional teacher… Smithtown High School East art teacher Tim Needles is a recipient of the PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator Award. Needles was selected in a Country wide search for the very best and empowering professors who inspire both their students and colleagues alike.
PBS presents the LearningMedia Digital Innovator awards to k-12 educators who posses a passion for implementing digital technology and media in the curriculum. As an Innovator award recipient, Needles will has exclusive access to a number of professional development benefits, including PBS LearningMedia video and web resources for his classes, virtual courses and events, National networking outlets for curriculum development, speaking and press opportunities
This is not the first prestigious award for the art teacher. Tim Needles received a Teachers grant from the Smithtown Children’s foundation, to collaborate in an Earth Day Mural with artist Jon Burgerman. Needles was also the recipient of the National Art Education Association’s 2016 AET Outstanding Teaching Award. PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator Award winners are considered to be ambassadors, embracing a lifelong commitment to learning, recognizing the power technology has to inspire students.
