It’s finally Award Show Season and that means it’s time to roll out your very own red carpet. We scoured pinterest for inspiration and struck gold, in time for the Golden Globes. Here’s a few of our favorite DIY ideas to throw the hottest award show party at home!
Candy Concession Bar
Fill Apothecary Jars with popcorn, gumballs, M & M’s, gummies and rock candy. Decorate each Jar with ribbon, labels or cut out scrapbook paper to create a unique theme of your choosing. If you don’t have Apothecary Jars, try using various sized vases and containers.
Tip: Place boxes and books on top of the table before covering with a table cloth for a dramatic effect to display the serving plates. Accent the table with picture frames with Award Show Nominee Signs or Personalize them to include guests.
Movie Style Popcorn Cupcakes
Bake your favorite cupcake recipe and top with butter cream icing. Chop mini marshmallows into halves or quarters and sprinkle over each cupcake. For an added touch, add some Wilton Butter Flavor to random marshmallows to give it a buttered popcorn look.
Tip: You can purchase red and white stripe cupcake lines online from most party supply stores like Oriental Trading or cut strips of scrapbook paper and adhere to plain liners.
Easy Red Carpet Photo Opp
Hang Red or Gold Fabric (or curtains if you have them available) along a wall where your guests will likely enter from. Cut a plastic Red table runner, from a party supply store, in half and roll it along the floor for a red carpet walkway. This is a cheap fix if you can’t find a red carpet runner from an online party store. Birthday Express carries a polyester runner for under $7.
Add some hanging Christmas Tree lights along the wall or behind the red curtains for a paparazzi effect to wow guests. Use outdoor flood lights with fixtures to fake a real directors light. Add a few props like a Director Chair, an Action Clapper or Megaphone and Presto… Your friends won’t stop snapping photos all night!
Budget Savvy Alternative: For a fast an inexpensive solution to adding some glitz to your party, Hang Golden Fringe (Oriental Trading sells these for under $10) and add a dozen or two balloons along the wall. It will look like you went all out, but your guests will never know!
