Three Commack Students Arrested Tuesday for Hacking into School Computer Network

Three Commack High School students have been arrested by Suffolk County Police for hacking into the School’s computer system. The students changed the schedules of 300 fellow classmates and altered the grades of two. Daniel Soares, Alex Mosquera and Erick Vaysman today arrested and arraigned yesterday morning in connection with the computer breach.  

Soares, 17 of Commack, was charged with two counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, three counts of Computer Tampering 3rd Degree, three counts of Identity Theft 2nd Degree, one count of Computer Trespass and one count of Eavesdropping. Vaysman, 17of  East Northport, was charged with one count of Computer Tampering 3rd Degree and one count of Criminal Solicitation 4th Degree. Mosquera, 17 of Commack was charged with one count of Computer Trespass and one count of Criminal Solicitation 4th Degree.

The unauthorized breach of the school district’s network was detected by Commack Union Free School District officials in July. The school immediately took action by informing Police. The altered schedules and grade changes were corrected prior to being distributed to the student body. Suffolk County Police Computer Crimes Section investigated the malicious breach which led to the arrest of the three suspected teens. The 17-year olds surrendered to detectives, peacefully.
