Third Grade Prodigy Heads to Julliard

Smithtown has a child prodigy! Third grader, Tom Liu, a student in Kimberly Passamonte’s Mills Pond Elementary School class, is on his way to Julliard. The classical pianist has been accepted into the prestigious Pre-College Division of Julliard.

Just last school year, Liu performed in front of the entire student body and staff at Mills Pond Elementary School. The talented Pianist, will spend his weekends, through the school year, studying vigorous lessons in his field, chamber music, music theory and ear training. Liu will be given the opportunity to perform in chamber, orchestral and soloist concerts.

The Juilliard Pre-College Division is a program for students of elementary through high school age, who are accepted based on a competitive audition process.  Students are chosen based on extraordinary talent, potential and accomplishments thus far. The Juilliard Pre-College Division has no minimum age requirement. The program is designed to cultivate the very finest performing arts talent, in the world, preserving the classical arts through generations to come.
