Looking for an event the whole family can enjoy? Bring your furry best friend to the inaugural Guide Dog Foundation Stroll & Roll, Sunday, September 28, 2014, at The Rinx in Hauppauge. Fundraising efforts for the bike ride and dog stroll goes towards the training and placing of specially trained guide dogs for people who are blind or have low vision.
STROLL
The 2-mile hike through Hidden Pond Park offers extraordinary views and colorful fall foliage. Bringing your dog to participate is encouraged but not mandatory. All are welcome to join in supporting the Guide Dog Foundation’s mission to improve the quality of life for people who are blind, visually impaired, or who have other special needs by providing guide dogs free of charge.
OR ROLL
Cyclists from all over Long Island will leave from The Rinx at Hidden Pond Park in Hauppauge and ride through exhilarating and beautiful routes (provided by the Suffolk Bicycle Riders’ Association) ranging from flat terrains to challenging courses, depending on experience levels. The courses range from 10 to 63 miles, touring Ronkonkoma, Holtsville, Yaphank, Rocky Point, and Wading River. There is even an unescorted 1.25-mile rugged mountain bike trail option available at the park for adrenaline seekers, anytime between 8 and 10 a.m.
