The Fall Preview

Fall is just around the corner and with the change in Season, comes some of Long Islands best traditions. Who doesn’t love pumpkin and apple picking or catching a local fair? Luckily for us Smithtown residents, there’s an entire calendar of fun, coming up in the next few weeks. Here’s just a glimpse of our Fall Preview into all that’s happening in town.

Smithtown Historical Society Heritage Country Fair

Location: Smithtown Historical Society 239 E Main St, Smithtown

Details: The annual Heritage Country Fair isn’t just for history buffs. This spectacular event is perfect for the whole family, featuring an array of vendors, a variety of music and mind blowing amusements. This year’s fair will feature vintage baseball clubs, antique car and truck displays, hayrides, a cowboy mounted shooting demonstration from the Long Island Riders, pumpkin painting, pony rides and so much more! Don’t miss the special dedication ceremony of the Bradley L. The Smithtown Running of the Bull

Saturday, September 26, 2015 TIme: 9:00 AM

Location : 26 New York Avenue, Smithtown

Details: It’s the Tenth Annual Smithtown Running of the Bull! Those who enjoy participating in an athletic day of fun, can run or walk along the tree drenched course through Smithtown’s forested protected park and land. Beginners or walkers can partake in the 1k course, while avid runners can enjoy a 5k track. After the race, spectators and athletes alike are invited to the post-race celebrations, featuring carb loaded goods from Smithtown’s best restaurants.  

Runners/Walkers Check in at 8:00 AM

Start Times: 1K walk starts at 8:45 AM –  5K run starts at 9:00 AM

Taps & Talons Craft Beer Tasting

Location: Sweetbriar Nature Center  62 Eckernkamp Drive, Smithtown

Details: The 2nd Annual Taps & Talons Craft Beer Tasting Event is a great celebration perfect for a Mommy and Daddy time-out or a Sunday Funday with friends. Featuring a Craft beer sampling from local breweries, raffles, live music, a wildlife demonstration and authentic Italian Antipasto assortments from Carrabas. Proceeds from the event will go towards wildlife rehabilitation and to help Sweetbriar with its Veterinary fund. All participants must be at 21 years old and present a valid I.D. Motown Comes to Smithtown

Location: Smithtown Center for Performing Arts – 2 East Main Street, Smithtown

Details: The classic sounds of Summertime are still going strong into the fall, as Forever Motown comes to Smithtown. Listen to the music of legendary performers including  Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes and Stevie Wonder.The Motown roster of songs is performed by a cast of entertainers from Broadway and pop sensations. Disney’s The Jungle Book – A Musical

The Jungle Book runs October 17 – November 8, 2015

Location: Smithtown Center for Performing Arts – 2 East Main Street, Smithtown

Details: Why pack the kids up to Disney when you can just bring them to Smithtown Center for the performing arts. The Jungle Book musical has been adapted from the classic film, including songs like I Wan’na Be Like You and  The Bare Necessities.
