Suffolk County Police Officers in the Fourth Precinct have made an arrest over the holiday weekend, in the shooting and Robbery which took place on July 1st in Kings Park, at approximately 11:15 P.M. that night. Gaven Benson, a 16 year old Middle Island adolescent was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Robbery 1st Degree, Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree.
The very thorough and swift investigation by Suffolk County Police Officers, concluded that Benson was helping an Old Dock Road Resident; 30 year old Amal Cummings, to move when he pulled a gun on her and another man, Henry Wrobel; a 29 year old Brentwood resident. Amal Cummings obeyed the assailant’s demand for money. However, the teenager fired one shot into Henry Wrobel’s leg and fled the scene. Wrobel is recovering from the gunshot wound after being treated and released from St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown.
Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives arrested Benson on Friday, July 3rd on Northridge Drive in Coram at approximately 4:45 p.m., without incident. The Middle Island 16 year old was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and was scheduled for arraignment the following day, July 4th at First District Court in Central Islip.
