Students Thrive Via School’s Summer Programs
Four unique Summer camp programs are in full swing at Accompsett Middle School. The different educational curriculums at Accompsett, are running throughout the end of July and the beginning of August, geared toward making learning a fun experience for students. The Middle School C.A.M.P. (Character Academics Mindset Preparedness) programming includes; English as a New Language, SCOPE Summer Enrichment and the Friends of Smithtown Music lessons.
C.A.M.P. students at Accompsett Middle School are able to build academic, creative, social and emotional skill-sets over the Summer Vacation. Each program is designed to help students learn through creative arts, mind-body medicine, positive psychology, nutrition, relationship development, resilience training, stress reduction, and movement and exercise. They are practicing yoga, meditation, biofeedback technology and working together.
The music curriculum gives student-musicians a chance to perfect their skills with one-on-one and group lessons, courtesy of the Friends of Smithtown Music. Students who do not speak English as a primary language are given the instruction and training to polish up their vocabulary. The SCOPE program is a combination of fun and learning through hands-on activities in the arts, technology and science.
