Wedding Season is in full swing and so is that crazy hazy weather. How do you look your best when the humidity is making you look like Albert Einstein’s head shot? Whether  you’re a guest at a wedding, a Hampton’s white party  or an upscale cocktail party, there’s a look that’s best for you. We consulted with Kings Park Stylists at Solar Hair Salon to get the scoop on the hot Summer hair styles and how to get the look!

bohemianBohemian:

  1. Loose Braid: a loose, sideswept fishtail braid or A thick fishtail braid or rows of twists cascading down into a low half pony. Accent with loosely tied ribbons or fresh flowers.
  2. Cascading Half-Up: A climbing braid to one side is used to frame the top and accentuates veils or crowning accents, while cascading barrel curls and tendrils flow down the back.
  3. Side Swept: a side twist that wraps around the head and rests at the nape of the neck. Stylists recommend adding a subtle ornamental hair comb or a single flower pinned at the nape, just above where the hair comes together.

vintageVintage:

  1. Finger Wave Updo: A heightened finger curl on top incorporates side swept bangs, while the rest of the hair is bound and pinned at the nape, knotted into a bun and pinned in place.
  2. Faux Bob: The longer layers of the hair (bottom half) are braided and then pinned to the bottom of the head while large waves, curled away from the face cover up the braid and falls in a uniformed wave. Longer hair is pinned and teased to give it that 1920’s bob look. Stylists pair a headband with this look often.
  3. Long Wavy Pinned Curls: For long hair, a sleek uniformed wave throughout the length of the hair is achieved by curling one side towards the face, the opposite side away from the face, using a brush to pin the waves into one uniform shape around the hair.

  1. Chignon Loose or folded: The classic understated look is achieved by smoothing and folding hair into a simple chignon. Most stylists recommend adding embellishments like baby’s breath or hair jewels to tie this knot perfectly.
  2. Braided Crown Bun: Two braids (on each side) are intertwined at the nape and folded into a classic bun. Stylist recommend this works best for tiaras or ornamental hair pieces.
  3. High Bun: works with side swept bangs, hair pulled back and tight or kept loose and flowing. For a more finished look, create a Sock Bun by wrapping hair ends around a hair donut, rolling it down all the way to the elastic and securing with bobby pins.
