Nominationations Now Being Accepted for the 2017 Suffolk County Senior Citizen of the Year

Do you look up to someone, over the age of 60, for the extraordinary life they have lived? Help spotlight that person by nominating them for the 2017 Senior Citizen of the Year Award. County Executive Steve Bellone and the Suffolk County Senior Citizen Advisory Board announced that the Suffolk County Office for the Aging is now accepting nominations for the annual Award.

“I encourage our residents to take the opportunity to nominate a senior they know that has made a difference throughout our region… The Senior of the Year is a special opportunity to highlight the contributions and commitment of those who are deserving of this recognition.” – County Executive Steve Bellone

Each nominee must be a resident within Suffolk County and at least 60 years of age or older. The focus of the award looks to recognizes a senior citizen who makes a significant local contribution in the lives of other seniors and residents, as an advocate, role model, volunteer or in another meaningful way.

On Thursday May 16, 2017 the award will be presented at the Senior Celebration Luncheon sponsored by the Suffolk County Office for the Aging and Suffolk County Senior Citizen Advisory Board at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook.

Nominations Rules and Requirements
  • Employees of federal, state, county or local municipalities engaged in providing services to senior citizens are not eligible.
  • Previous award recipients are also not eligible.
