Suffolk County Police Officer Ramses Cerdas Successfully Performs CPR on a 16 Month Old Boy

An officer of the Suffolk County Police Third Precinct came to the rescue of a 16 month-old baby who fell into a pool in Brentwood thursday night. Suffolk County Police responded to a call at approximately 7:47 P.M. Thursday June 25th, of a non-responsive baby found in a backyard pool. Officer Ramses Cerdas hopped a neighboring  Bishop Road fence and immediately took the boy from his mother to begin CPR.

Shortly after, the baby boy began to spit up water and was able to breathe on his own.  The boy was transported to Southside Hospital, located in Bay Shore, by EMS responders; Brentwood Legion, where officials say he was responsive and fully alert. The baby will continue to be held under observation until doctors clear him to go home. The pool installation was checked for regulations by the Town of Islip on the scene. No violations have been reported at this time.
