To Benefit Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank
Animal loving, Suffolk County Legislator Robert Trotta is looking out for our furry friends who are less fortunate, by collecting pet food and other supplies at his Smithtown Office. The fourth annual Long Island Cares Legislative Food Drive Challenge provides pet food and supplies for individuals and families in need, in an effort to help them maintain their pets at home instead of placing them in shelters.
Legislator Trotta stressed the value behind donating dog and cat food as a primary request from Long Island Cares’ member agencies. Costs of heating a home, buying medications, paying bills and putting food on the table make it difficult for less fortunate families to feed their pets.
“Pets keep many people going, giving them comfort and a reason to survive in difficult times so I appeal to the good neighbors and pet lovers of my district to help out,” -Legislator Trotta.
Items being collected, now through April 30th, 2015, include canned and dry cat/dog food, cat/ dog treats, bird seed, fish food, kitty litter and small new toys. Office hours for drop offs are Monday – Friday from 9am until 5pm.
Legislator Robert Trotta’s office is located at 59 Landing Avenue in Smithtown. For more information, please call Legislator Trotta’s office at 854-3900.
