Smithtown Children’s Foundation Couple to be Honored at St. Catherine of Siena 17th Annual Golf Classic
On Monday, May 22nd the Foundation at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center is hosting its Annual Golf Classic at the Huntington Country Club. The 17th Annual Golf Outing will include contests on and off the green, a BBQ lunch, cocktail reception and dinner, with all-day access to Huntington Country Clubs facilities. Don’t miss the “hole-in-one” contest, for a chance to win the grand prize; a new Mercedes, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Smithtown. The proceeds from the 17th annual event will go to benefit the development of a new Pediatric Urgent Care Program at St. Catherine of Siena.
Smithtown Children’s Foundation founders, Tom and Christine Fitzgerald will be awarded as honorees, during the St. Catherine of Siena 17th Annual Golf Classic. The focus on children in the community, with the development of the new Pediatric Urgent Care Program by St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center solidifies this year’s honorees. The Fitzgerald’s are two individuals who began with a small gesture to help a child, and are now responsible for providing aid to those Smithtown families, in crisis.
“St. Catherine of Siena is proud to announce Tom and Christine Fitzgerald as 2017 honorees— as a faith-based, community hospital, St. Catherine’s seeks to acknowledge individuals who have made enormous contributions to the community, while also embodying our own mission of helping the suffering and those in need.” – St. Catherine’s Foundation Executive Director Tom McLaughlin.

About The Smithtown Children’s Foundation
The Smithtown Children’s Foundation was originally formed in 2008 to help a local kindergartner diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, but now raises funds to aid the entire community, particularly those in crisis. In addition to paying medical and household bills, the Foundation purchases medical equipment that is not covered by insurance; manages college scholarships for graduating seniors from both Smithtown East and West High Schools, and funds an annual Teacher’s Grant for a worthy classroom project that cannot be funded in any other way. The Foundation also works closely with school district’s social workers, providing backpacks and school supplies, as well as Thanksgiving gift cards and holiday gifts. Over the years, Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald have established the Foundation as the most valuable resource for the community’s most needy, providing financial and emotional support to children and families within the Smithtown community by bridging family, friends, neighbors and local business to act as ONE.
