Team Smithtown Third Grade Lacrosse Players shaved their heads in a St. Baldricks fundraising event raising $16,750 to help fund Childhood Cancer Research
We told you about these incredible eight year olds last week, who have gone above and beyond to help fellow students and other children, diagnosed with Cancer. Coach Rob Trites and his extraordinary third grade lacrosse team hosted their head shaving, fundraising event over weekend, for the St. Baldricks foundation.
On Sunday, March 19th,Coach Trites, Tony James and 21 8 year old lacrosse players shaved their heads at the Park Lounge in Kings Park, with plenty of proud of parents and grandparents there to cheer them on. After all the money was tallied, the team surpassed their original goal of $5,000 by 335%. As of this morning, “Team Smithtown Third Grade Lacrosse” had raised a grand total of $16,750, which will go to support research to cure Childhood Cancers. All 21 thrid graders shaved their heads, along with two dads.
The St. Baldricks foundation is the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants. By assisting groups and individuals to orchestrate St. Baldricks events across the Country, the foundation is able to fund cooperative research through the Children’s Oncology Group. The St. Baldricks foundation gives kids nationwide access to the very latest in research and clinical trials.
