Students Get Social Media Tips from Expert Author Josh Ochs on how to be smart, safe and social online

Young adults preparing for the future at Smithtown High School West got a valuable lesson in preparing for the future last week. Both junior and senior classes at Smithtown High School West met with social media expert and author Josh Ochs last Wednesday. On October 19th, Smithtown students learned how to use social media to impress prospective colleges and future employers during a special presentation from the social media expert.

“Create a positive image portfolio and show your best side; flood the internet with positive images and messages,” -Josh Ochs , author and Social Media Expert

Students learned how they were perceived online via Google name search. Ochs continued to teach students some basic tactics to enhance and potentially change their online presence. He presented a number of tips and examples to students, showing them how to “shine” online and boost image.

In addition to the special presentation, the Smithtown High School West PTA sponsored an evening event for parents. The main focus of the student presentation was made available to parents, regarding how colleges and employers research online.
