According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning will remain in effect beginning at midnight tonight until 6 PM Tuesday. Snow is expected to fall mainly after 11 PM, with wind gusts from the north averaging between 14-17 mph with gusts as high as 28 mph. Snowfall will be heavy at times with an average accumulation between 1-2 inches per hour. Suffolk County could see snowfall totals between 5-10 inches.
On Tuesday, the snow is expected to begin to taper off after 2pm. A breezy northwest wind around 21 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph are expected.
Travel is not recommended as conditions will make for a slippery and dangerous morning commute.
