Smithtown High School West homecoming celebrations were doubly spectacular this year, corresponding with the Smithtown 350th Birthday festivities. The week leading up to Homecoming was filled with fun activities for Students and Staff, such as theme spirit days and a pep rally.
Members of individual classes, sports teams and clubs march down Main Street in the Smithtown 350 Parade with a crowd of residents cheering on both sides. Members of the homecoming court waved proudly, riding decorated vehicles along the parade route. Michael Alfano, Ryan Chapman, Michael Fandozzi, Jose Mapa and Michael Randazzo were this year’s Homecoming King nominees. Vying for the crown as homecoming queen were Gabriella Carucci, Noor Chaudhry, Gabrielle Hidalgo, Natalia Lynch and Nicole Smith.
After the parade, The Smithtown Bulls varsity football team went up against Centereach High School; both teams were undefeated. The Bulls hit the ground running with an early lead, scoring 20 points in the first quarter. They finished halftime with an additional 21 points. While Centereach gave the Bulls a run for the money with three touchdowns later in the game, the Smithtown Bulls charged to the finish, defeating the Cougars with a 48-28 victory.
At halftime the Schools Champion Kickline and award-winning cheerleading teams performed to the crowd. Following the performances, the king and queen of homecoming were crowned; announcing the Varsity football team Captain, Michael Alfano as king and Gabriella Carucci, an acclaimed scholar-artist as queen.
