Math educator Marianne Schoepflin is recognized with the prestigious Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award

New York State Lieutenant Governor, Kathleen Hochul visited Smithtown High School East on Friday to present one very deserving teacher with the Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award. On September 23rd, 2016, students and staff members gathered to celebrate with Math teacher, Marianne Schoepflin as she was honored with the very prestigious award.  Lieutenant Governor Hochul presented the honors to Schoepflin during the High School’s Spirit Week.

Marianne Schoepflin has been an educator for a decade now.  She was recognized by the Lieutenant Governor as a fine teacher and an extraordinary role model.  The Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award is an annual honor by the state, given out by the Governor,  to select Teachers who inspire both their students and colleagues alike. In addition to the prestigious recognition, Schoepflin also received a $5,000 stipend to better her professional skill set, continued learning and related endeavors.
