According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm advisory will remain in effect until 2PM Today. Heavy snow expected with accumulations predicted to be between 4 to 6 inches. Travel is expected to be difficult at times with poor visibility, specifically during the morning commute. The snowfall will develop during the early morning, tapering off this afternoon. Because of warmer conditions in the AM followed by a significant drop in temperature, the roads may be icy or slush-like, making for treacherous travel conditions. Heavy snow could bring down tree limbs and power lines. Please use extra caution when venturing out.

Residents are asked to please take extra care when driving and please have patience while the Highway Department does its best to clear the roads. As of 6 AM, the full fleet of highway vehicles were dispatched out to clear the roads. However, given the layer of ice that formed underneath the heavy snow, travelers can cause a slush-like mixture which makes snow clean up a difficult task. Superintendent Robert Murphy will continue to keep the snow plows, and sand and salt spreaders out on the roads until all primary and secondary roads have been cleared. He has asked that residents take precautions and only travel if necessary to speed up a process that is arduous, given the spring thaw.
