Smithtown Softball Players Named Scholar-Athletes

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has named 17 Smithtown High School students as All-American Scholar-Athletes for the 2014-2015 school year. Nine of the students are members of  Smithtown High School West’s softball team. Eight Scholar-Athletes are members of the Smithtown East softball team

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association honors players who have achieved a 3.50 GPA or higher. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association awarded 5,493 softball players across the Country with NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2014-15 academic year. Out of seven membership divisions, 691 students were chosen, Nationally in the High School weighted division and 627 in the High School unweighted division.

Smithtown High School West Students; Alexis Papadopoulos, Isabelle Verdu, Madison Mulder, Kaitlyn Loffman, Julia Chapman, Katelyn Meaney, Kiley Magee, Amber Meystrik and Class of 2015 graduate Kimberly Plaspohl earned this national recognition. This is the second time receiving the honor for seven of these athletes.

Samantha Cusano, Catherine Pederson, Morgan Catalanotto, Gabriella Colon, Nicole DePaola, Cristina DePaola, Alexandra Loccisano and Taylor Bigliani of Smithtown High School East, received the All-American Scholar-Athlete award as well.
