Smithtown Schools Honored by the State Education Department

The New York State Education Department has deemed three District schools Reward Schools or the 2014-15 school year. Smithtown HS East along with Tackan and Smithtown Elementary have been designated as high performance schools and honors the academic growth based on graduation statistics and scores from the state’s required math, English language arts and Regents tests.

All three Smithtown schools are among 351 public and private schools statewide earning the Reward School distinction of High Performing School. An impressive feat considering student proficiency ratings must average 90 or higher for elementary and 95 or higher at high school levels, with no gaps in student achievement over the past three years. They are among 351 public and private schools statewide named Reward Schools.
