Smithtown Recognized During the Opening Session of the Association of Towns Annual Meeting

During the 2018 Association of Towns annual meeting, Smithtown Councilwoman Lisa Inzerillo, Councilman Tom Lohmann and Comptroller Donald Musgnug were presented with an award on behalf of the Town of Smithtown, in commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the organization. Smithtown was one of the founding members in 1933. Keynote Speaker NYS Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli gave a brief presentation before honoring AOT’s 20 Founding Towns.

“It was a proud day for Smithtown. It was an exciting moment for us, to accept the honoree plaque on behalf of our town. We got the chance to speak with NY State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli afterwards, which was incredibly resourceful and informative. I am looking forward to sharing all we learned with our constituents and personnel.” – Councilwoman Lisa Inzerillo

“It was an honor to be in the company of our fellow municipalities, who founded this incredible organization. We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from our neighbors and towns across New York State and in turn share our successes.” – Councilman Tom Lohmann

Mr. Jerry Geist, Director of the Association of Towns of New York State, presented the awards to the 20 founding towns across the state. The 85th anniversary ceremony was part of the AOT’s annual meeting and training school, held February 18th – February 21st. The four day conference features over 150 hours of education for town officials, a vendor expo, networking and a wide array of presentations geared towards various municipal departments.
