Smithtown Plays From The Harte

Smithtown’s Fifth Annual “Play 4 The Cure” Field Hockey Game  honoring the memory of Sara Long Harte kicks off at 3:30pm On Friday October 17th at Smithtown East.

Each year Coach Flynn and the Smithtown HS West Girls Field Hockey team dedicates this game to the Teacher, Colleague and Friend who left this world all too soon due to Breast Cancer five years ago.

Sara Long Harte taught at St. James Elementary School, the very same Elementary school where she attended as a child, for eight years. Her immeasurable impact throughout the community in such a short period lives on today through a Scholarship Fund, a Memorial Garden and a hand-crafted picket fence in front of the St. James Elementary School which was built to honor her by a former student. Her dedication to students, Charity work with the Sunrise Fund for Childhood Cancer and her unending labor of love for this community will never be forgotten.

Come out in Support and Celebrate the life of one of our Communities brightest stars in the heavens and Cheer on both Smithtown East and West Field Hockey Teams on the field this Friday… As they Play 4 the Cure!
