A sea of influentials throughout Smithtown and local Government came out last night, for the Republican Committee Nominating Convention, at the Elks Lodge in Smithtown. Suffolk County officials including Legislator Robert Trotta, Legislator Leslie Kennedy and husband Comptroller John M Kennedy showed their support as Smithtown Republican Chairman, Bill Ellis officially announced the endorsement of Councilman Bob Creighton, Councilman Ed Wehrheim and Tax Receiver Deanna Varricchio for re-election. Both Councilmen Creighton and Wehrheim have been long time advocates for changes to improve transparency in government, accountability within town departments as well as improving Main Street and infrastructure. All three officials received backing from both the Republican and the Conservative Parties of Smithtown.
