Lombardi tells Smithtown Today, that the East Egg Hunt was inspired with the hope of bringing community spirit and togetherness to families in Smithtown. The Smithtown HS East DECA students have filled 1,000 plastic eggs with treats and spring themed items for younger children! The eggs have been stuffed with non-food prizes in consideration of parents and children with food allergies. The students have thought of everything, including splitting up the egg hunts into two separate groups, to keep the courtyard from overcrowding. Lombardi also says that it “gives people the opportunity to budget time between doing crafts and games, taking pictures with the Bunny and Bull and hunting for eggs.”

Forget waiting on line at the Mall for pictures with the Easter Bunny… AP Art Student and DECA Officer, Samantha Cheng will be using her Canon 5D Mark III to shoot some incredible photos with the Easter Bunny, children and their families. The DECA team created Spring themed “Stick Props” for the whole family to pose with. Parents are welcome to take pictures on phones or cameras (photos included in admission). However, if parents would like to request the DECA pictures, they may do so by leaving email addresses behind.

In addition to Smithtown HS East DECA advisors, Mr. Hennings, Mrs. LoFrese and Ms. Miller, a team of twelve DECA officers (lead by Co- Presidents; Kyle DiPietrantonio and Victoria Lombardi) set up the Egg Hunt concept and marketing efforts. General DECA members have also volunteered to assist with the day’s festivities.

“Coordinating events like the EAST Egg Hunt and bringing the community together is what Smithtown East DECA is all about. All of the hard work, effort and energy put into this event by our DECA officer team, led by Kyle and Victoria is truly an inspiration. DECA is not just a ‘Business and Marketing Club’ as it affords our students the opportunity to get involved with the Smithtown community in so many ways.” – Matthew Hennings, Smithtown High School East DECA Advisor

Smithtown Today was blown away by the level of professionalism and organization exhibited by each DECA member, involved in orchestrating such a fantastic event. Victoria Lombardi tells us, communication was what ultimately got the job done. “We reached out to several businesses and people to help us orchestrate this event. We created advertising materials, distributed them throughout the school district, designed crafts and activities for the children to take part in. Ultimately, communicating amongst our club to ensure each task was done efficiently was crucial to the success of the EAST Egg Hunt. This event was somewhat difficult to plan because of the amount of activities we have going on, but it was all for a great cause!” – Victoria Lombardi, Smithtown H.S. East DECA Co-President & Easter Egg Hunt organizer
