Get ready to give Thanks with friends and family as we kick off the beginning of the Holiday Season. In the next two weeks, Smithtown is getting in the wacky season’s holiday spirit with a line up of fun shopping events, mommy’s day out, Tree lighting and more. We listed the first week of fun that kicks off right after Turkey Day in our first installment of the Smithtown Holiday Fun Guide.

Black Friday Kiddie Drop Off Event

On November 25th, treat both yourself and your young children to an unforgettable day of fun, while you shop for holiday gifts. Hauppauge Fit Body Bootcamp is offering two sessions during the day, for children (K-6th graders) to spend three hours of fun and healthy activities. From 10:30AM – 1:45PM and 6:30PM – 9:45PM kids will enjoy an hour of yoga, an hour of hula hooping, a mindfulness activity and healthy snacks. (No yoga or hoop experience necessary) Each Workshop session is for boys and girls. Space is limited, so reserve space ear now by calling 631-374-9302. Leave your own name, the name of your child along with his/her age a phone number and which session you’d prefer. All calls will be returned promptly. Holiday Market at Sportstime, Jingle & Mingle Holiday “Pop-up” Market

On December 3rd from 10 AM – 2 PM, spend the day shopping and mingling with friends and neighbors in a shop local holiday market. Pick out original and thoughtful gifts from local vendors and home business all under the same roof. Sportstime will also be offering great deals, hot new products and lots of samples & giveaways! Admission is free and open to the public. Raffle baskets will be drawn at 1:45 PM. Childcare is open and available for shoppers as well. Sportstime is located at 275 Old Indianhead Rd in Kings Park

Santa’s Pet Photos at Paws of War

On December 3rd, from 11AM – 4PM come get your beloved pets picture taken with Santa, or update him/her with low cost vaccines. From 11-1 PM All veterans are welcome to get their dogs vaccinated for free. Sign up for Dog Obedience training on Tuesday Nights, also free for Veterans. For the public, vaccines and pictures with Santa are both priced at $10 each. Microchipping is also available for $25. Price includes registration. All dogs MUST be on leashes and all cats in carriers! Refreshments, and fun for all who attend. Paws of War is located at 127-19 Smithtown Blvd in Nesconset

Sixth Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 9/11 Responders Park

The 9/11 Responders Remembered Park and the Feal Good Foundation are hosting the Sixth annual Christmas Tree Lighting on December 4th at 4:30 PM. Come together as a community and stand alongside Widows,their families and volunteers in an intimate holiday gathering to celebrate the lives of all 9/11 Responders. Enjoy refreshments, entertainment and a special visit from Santa, courtesy of the Nesconset Fire Department. This is one of the most beautiful of Christmas Tree lighting and ceremony on Long Island… that will leave you filled with the true meaning of hope, community and the Christmas spirit.
