Smithtown Historical Society orchestrated it’s first-ever Angela’s House Gift-A-Thon at the beginning of November. On December 13th, 50 gifts were hand delivered to the children of Angela’s House. In addition to the Angela’s House gifts, the Girl Scouts of Smithtown donated fifty beautiful stockings filled to the brims for the children. A tree in the Roseneath Cottage at Smithtown Historical Society was decorated in ornaments, each representing a child at Angela’s House. The ornaments also represented a specific gift the child wished for.
“I am so happy to be a small part of this community, who came together to donate all of these gifts for the children and families of Angela’s House. Bob Policastro and his staff do amazing work, and I am proud to support it.” – Marianne Howard Historical Society Executive Director
Smithtown Historical Society Volunteer, Marianna Halufska organized the Angela’s House Gift-A-Thon. During the month of November, Halufska and members of the historical society, arranged for residents throughout the community to pick an ornament. Each resident would then fulfill the child’s wish the ornament represented. Thanks to a collaborative effort within the community, volunteers and the Smithtown Historical Society board and staff, fifty gifts for the children at Angela’s House were collected.
The Smithtown Historical Society accredited the overwhelming support of the community for making the gift-a-thon possible. In addition, the historical society thanked the Girls Scouts of Smithtown for the beautiful stockings. Angela’s House will be honored during the Annual Heritage Ball in October.
Angela’s house seeks out families, caring for a child or children with severe disabilities or medical conditions. The charity aids the family in helping children to obtain supportive services to improve quality of life.
