Get ready to Celebrate the true story of Smithtown’s rich and diverse past at the Smithtown Historical Society’s annual Heritage Country Fair. On September 17th enjoy music, antique cars, dance, arts and crafts, artifacts, period reenactments and living history on the 20 acre historic site. The annual Heritage Country Fair runs from 10 AM through 5 PM on Saturday, September 17th at the Smithtown Historical Society.

In a new tradition, the historical society will open its doors the day before for a special tour of the 12 historic structures and the grounds. The Open House will be held on Friday, September 16th from 6 PM to 8 PM. All whom attend the open house will enjoy complimentary Whisper Vineyards wine and cheese on the front lawn at Roseneath Cottage.

Annual Heritage Country Fair Highlights

Don’t miss the fan favorite, Brooklyn Atlantics, 1864 baseball club play. Or give traditional dancing a try in the Brush Barn from 11 AM – 3 PM. Watch local sensations like the An Rince Mor School of Irish Dance, the Dynamics Twirlers, St. James Dance and Magic Ballroom. If Dancing and baseball are not for you, keep it simple, touring the historic buildings and grounds or play some fun family games.    

New to the Fair:           

Free Admission and activities for Children to the fair. Shop at the Farmer’s Market, a farm stand from Borella’s Wholesale Nursery or sip fine brews, Bavarian Pretzels and German Bratwurst from Croxely’s Ale House Biergarten.

All Weekend Long: Enjoy special tours and hands on historical activities in the four houses. Activities will include American traditional blacksmithing demonstrations, old fashioned crafts, spinning, weaving and woodworking. Take the kids for a special Pony ride, or let them partake in age appropriate activities and games. History Buffs won’t want to miss the Civil War and Revolutionary War re-enactments into what life was like for soldiers of the past.
