Smithtown’s two high schools have been ranked as best in the Nation! Both Smithtown High School West and Smithtown High School East were rated in the top 100 in New York State on U.S. News & World Report’s rankings of the best public high schools in the nation.
Smithtown High School West is listed at No. 76 in New York State, while Smithtown High School East lands at No. 94 in the state. Smithtown High School West and High School East also ranked in the top 25 for Long Island high schools, coming in at number 20 and 22, respectively.
According to U.S. News & World Report, the rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools are awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college. The report includes information about curriculum, test scores and student demographics.
