Suffolk Legislator Robert Trotta welcomed a new Fresh Market to downtown Smithtown, last week. The grand opening last Wednesday, July 22nd featured a Cracking of the Parmesan event for local residents, business professionals and local officials. Local officials celebrating the opening and sampling delectable cheeses alongside the county Legislator included executive members of the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce and Councilman Bob Creighton. Those on hand for the grand opening got a taste; pun intended, of what’s to come, from chef demonstrations and contests, to tastings and samplings.
“I welcome Fresh Market to our great town and am pleased that it is providing so many employment opportunities, as well as attracting more people to shop in our downtown area,” -Suffolk County Legislator Robert Trotta.
The Fresh Market typically employees close to 90 individuals per store. The upscale specialty grocery retailer opened it’s second location in long island at the Branch Plaza Shopping Center, located at 126 E. Main Street in Smithtown. This location is now one of five in the state.
