The Smithtown Movie House, known as the heart of Main Street by many, has graced every resident of Smithtown with fond memories for 83 years. The iconic monument was restored in 2002, accommodating live performances and bringing back the Arts to Smithtown. Since its rebirth as the Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts, more than half a million residents have passed through its doors. Laura and Ken Washington and the Smithtown Performing Arts Council affirm the revival and preservation of the theater would not be possible without the support of Smithtown’s Supervisor, Patrick Vecchio. It is with his efforts in mind and thanks to funding approved by the Town Board that The Smithtown Performing Arts Council will honor Supervisor Vecchio with a night of Comedy and Cocktails Gala as part of the Smithtown 350 celebrations.
On June 13, 2015 The Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts will host a night of Comedy and Cocktails at the theatre. The Gala event will feature a cocktail reception, comedic performances from John Joseph, JJ Ramirez, Steve Marshall and headliner Kevin Meany. Smithtown Businesses are encouraged to sponsor the Cocktail and Comedy Fundraising Gala.
Proceeds will benefit the Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts Youth Programming, providing roughly 500 young residents with a sanctuary of creativity during free time after school, on weekends and holidays. These programs are often beyond the reach financially of many families. The gala will assist those who do not have the financial means to participate and maintain the costs for others.
