Councilwoman Inzerillo tells Smithtown Today that this event is more than just a fun community outreach occasion. Inzerillo has been working around the clock with Public Safety, Parks Department and the incredible staff at the Smithtown Animal Shelter to fast track the building renovations and create a much more animal and people friendly environment.

“We began construction on the shelter this week, gutting walls and creating new rooms with windows and proper ventilation for the animals. It is my hope that the public will come out and see for themselves all the new and positive developments underway. I also want to thank the Parks Department team and Joe Arico, the members of the Public Safety Department and John Valentine for working non stop to make the shelter a safe and wonderful environment for both the animals, staff, volunteers and potential pet owners alike.” – Councilwoman Lisa Inzerillo

Councilwoman Inzerillo also commended the staff at the Animal Shelter for their unwavering dedication to the animals and for the work they do to get each shelter animal trained, medically healthy and then placed in a loving home. She hopes that the Easter Photo Shoot and Egg Hunt will be a pre-grand-opening for the shelter… one that helps to give the ever deserving dogs and cats some TLC from Smithtown residents and potentially new homes.

There will be a number of Smithtown Animal Shelter Staff members on hand to assist residents who are interested in fostering or adopting a dog or cat. Councilwoman Inzerillo told Smithtown Today that she has met each and every animal at the Shelter and believes that they are all have loving and unique personalities, deserving of permanent homes with the good people of Smithtown.

In January of 2016, Councilwoman Lisa Inzerillo began her quest to improve the quality of life for the rescues at the Smithtown Animal Shelter. In addition to her role as liaison to labor management, Inzerillo volunteered her HTML web and Graphic Design background to create a user friendly website for the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter. She has also designed new marketing and adoption materials for the shelter and is planning to train a new marketing staffer to maintain the modernized adoption and awareness structure for the Animal Shelter.
