Rockettes Honored by Smithtown

Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim presented the Radio City Rockettes with an honorary Proclamation on behalf of the town for their visit to the Smithtown Public Library. On Wednesday, September 25th, approximately 100 children & parents lined up at the Smithtown Public Library to meet two Radio City Rockettes.

“I’m so appreciative that Smithtown was one of two towns chosen to visit; bringing awareness to the library and our quaint downtown. This was an exceptional treat for our local families… I’m especially grateful to Mindy and Taylor who were so attentive to every child and their parents. This was a moment I’m sure will remain a treasured memory for years to come.” – Supervisor Ed Wehrheim

The Smithtown Public Library was one of two Long Island public libraries selected by MSG to visit, before rehearsals begin for the 2019 Christmas Spectacular. Two of the Radio City Rockettes, Mindy and Taylor, met with aspiring dancers and fans, made keepsake snow globes, and took photos with the children and their families.

Photos with the Rockettes were instantly printed and framed inside each snow globe. The Rockettes then assisted with decorating the memorable keepsakes. The visit was a free event, held in the Children’s Department.

About the Radio City Rockettes:
Beloved by generations of families and starring the incomparable Radio City Rockettes, the Christmas Spectacular is a one-of-a-kind tradition where the magic of Christmas in New York comes alive. The 2019 production features magnificent Rockettes dance numbers, stunning costumes, and immersive technology and visual effects. In 2018, the Christmas Spectacular introduced both a brand-new finale scene and all-new digital projections. The finale, “Christmas Lights,” begins at the conclusion of the “Living Nativity” scene, which has been performed as part of the Christmas Spectacular since its inception in 1933. The Christmas Spectacular continues to combine traditional numbers with cutting edge technology that extends the scenery beyond the stage to transport audiences from their seats right to the center of the action – from the North Pole, to Central Park, to a manger in Bethlehem. Tickets for the 2019 Christmas Spectacular are on sale now at www.rockettes.com/christmas.
