President’s Volunteer Service Award

One Smithtown High School West Senior has been recognized for paying it forward on a Presidential level. Alexandra Baffo is the recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award,  in honor of her volunteer service. The very prestigious award, granted by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Obama, is given to those who have volunteered a significant amounts of time, serving the community.

Created in 1995 by Prudential in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is intended to honor middle and high school students for extraordinary community service on a local, state, and national level. The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program’s intended goal is to reward young individuals who are already going above and beyond the scope of everyday people to make a positive difference within the community. By way of recognition, the program hopes to inspire other young adults to think about how they could give back to their communities. Since it’s conception, the program has recognized over 115,000 young people for their volunteer efforts.
