Suffolk County Police Recruits Organize Holiday Food Drive
Suffolk County Police recruits donated more than 800 pounds of non-perishable food to a local community outreach center at the Suffolk County Police Academy in Brentwood today.
The 139 recruits spent a month collecting items to give to Pronto of Long Island located in Bay Shore. Pronto’s mission is to feed the hungry, clothe the needy and provide healing and hope to everyone.
“We were very glad to donate food to such a great organization. It provides a valuable resource to our community and we’re honored to help Pronto of Long Island succeed in its mission,” said Tyler Smith, a Suffolk County Police Academy Recruit. “Our class is comprised of 139 recruits representing seven different agencies, and there is one overwhelming reason we’re all here – we want to serve our communities. As police officers, we are committed to helping make a difference and improving the lives of those around us.”
Upon their graduation on April 1, 2016, this group of recruits will be the newest police officers on patrol.
