Officer Eli Tretola of the 4th Precinct responded to a 911 call reporting a fire at a home in Lake Grove this afternoon. Upon arrival, the apartment resident had escaped with her two dogs. However, Officer Tretola went inside to find the missing cat, Yoda. We’ll never know if the two dogs were applying for the K-9 unit or if they just wanted company. Regardless, both the Rottweiler and Shetland Sheepdog ran inside the burning home again. Thanks to the bravery and big hearted will of Officer Eli Tretola, all three animals are happy and safe back with their owner.
While an Arson investigating the cause of the fire is underway, authorities do not suspect foul play at this time. The fire was extinguished by the Centereach, Selden and Ronkonkoma Fire Departments.
