If there is one thing more refreshing, than witnessing random acts of kindness as they unfold, it is seeing our Children give back before they are grown. The students at St. James’ Harbor Country Day School have been collecting nonperishable food items to deliver to the Smithtown Emergency Food Pantry this Wednesday, November 19th, becoming inspirational role models to us adults. Additionally, the Students at Harbor Country will assist the food pantry volunteers in sorting out the food and package it for delivery to families and individuals across Smithtown and the surrounding area, in time for Thanksgiving.
The Smithtown Food Pantry assists roughly 1,300 families throughout the year annually. Last year, the pantry provided Thanksgiving dinner to 122 families.

About the Smithtown Emergency Food Pantry
In March of 1984, the members of seven church congregations within Smithtown saw a need to provide food to residents who could not afford to feed their families. This food pantry is run entirely by the volunteers of seven churches: Byzantine Church of the Resurrection, First Presbyterian Church of Smithtown, Smithtown United Methodist Church, St Andrews Lutheran Church, St James Episcopal Church, St Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, and St James Lutheran Church. The food pantry relies on the support of Smithtown residents, surrounding communities, schools, fraternal organizations, scouts, businesses, houses of worship and individual citizen donations.
