Smithtown students at High School East and Nesaquake will meet new principals in September. The School district has appointed Dr. Kevin Simmons as principal of Smithtown High School East and Daniel McCabe as principal of Nesaquake Middle School.
Prior to his new appointment, Dr. Kevin Simmons held the same office at Nesaquake from 2008 to 2016. Before that, he served the Nesaquake community as assistant Principal. His career in education includes a stint as a social studies teacher at Syosset Central School. Dr. Simmons’ doctorate in administration and supervision comes from St. John’s University. He also holds an advanced graduate certificate (school district administration) from Stony Brook University.
Daniel McCabe will take the reigns from Simmons at Nesaquake Middle School. Prior to McCabe’s new title, he served as assistant principal at Accompsett Middle School from 2012 to 2016. McCabe has been a staple to the Smithtown Central School District for more than 17 years. His various positions include business teacher and instructional specialist at Smithtown High School West (1999-2007) and served as assistant principal of Smithtown West High School from 2007 through the 2012 school year. Daniel McCabe’s education degrees include a Master of Science in special education from Dowling College and a post-masters certificate in school administration from Stony Brook University.
Both of the newly appointed Principals were given official notice as of July 1st, 2016.
