Husband Charged With Murdering His Wife In Lake Grove Home
The Lake Grove community was left in dismay, when Suffolk County Police found Tricia Odierna, killed in her Win Place home last Thursday. The Homicide Squad detectives investigated the incident, after Fourth Precinct Patrol officers responded to a 911 call, at approximately 1:50 Thursday afternoon and discovered the 42 year old woman. Odierna, was pronounced dead upon arrival.
A speedy investigation led Homicide detectives to arrest Paul Leitgeb, the husband of Tricia Odierna and a retired NYPD officer. Suffolk County Police officials developed information that Leitgeb was in Pawling, NY hiking trail. The New York State Police conducted a massive search with the help of Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department and Metro North Police. Leitgeb was located in the Appalachian trail, by the New York State Police Canine team on Tuesday, October 6th.
Suffolk County Police report that Leitgeb had self inflicted injuries to his wrist and throat and threatened to continue to harm himself and the officers who discovered him. State Troopers were able to apprehend the suspect into custody, where he was transported to Mid-Hudson regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. As of yesterday, October 7th, Leitgeb was transported to a Suffolk County area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Paul Leitgeb, 49, of 8 Win Place, Lake Grove, was charged with Murder 2nd Degree by Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives. Upon release from the hospital, he will be scheduled for arraignment. Suffolk County Police officials remind our readers that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
