We always think of kicking serious butt, when the name Leslie Kennedy comes to mind. Our County Legislator is a fearless woman, who gets the job done. So it should come to no surprise, that Leslie Kennedy is leading the stride to help the women of Smithtown defend themselves should ever a dangerous situation arise. Last Friday, Legislator Leslie Kennedy was the host at Empire State Karate in Smithtown, for the first of a series of Free Women’s Self Defense Classes.
With the help of Suffolk County Police Officer, Susan Levaglia and Empire State Karate instructor Joyce Santamaria women of various ages learned the proper techniques to Self-Defense. The 2 hour class covered both mental and physical self-defense approaches to increasing safety under treacherous circumstances. Officer Susan Levaglia and Karate instructor Joyce Santamaria have taught the importance of safety through self-defense, to women throughout Suffolk County.
“The instructions and practice in self-defense tonight were both amazing and unforgettable! We will definitely be doing this again! A big thank you to all of the ladies that came down, and a special thank you to Officer Susan Levaglia and Joyce Santamaria for their gracious support!’’ – Legislator Leslie Kennedy
