LI Power Couple, John and Leslie Kennedy Honor Columbus Day As Grand Marshals

Proud Italian American’s everywhere celebrated history’s most profound discovery, this past Monday. The perfect Fall day, set the mood for the Sons of Italy’s annual Columbus Day Parade down Main Street in Huntington. Organization all over Nassau and Suffolk counties come together every year, for Long Island’s greatest celebration of Columbus Day, to honor the Explorer and to pay homage to the contributions that Italian American’s have made in America.

Who better to serve as the Parade’s Grand Marshal, than Smithtown’s very own Prima Donna (powerful woman), Leslie Kennedy? Legislator Leslie Kennedy was chosen, along with her husband, Comptroller John Kennedy to serve as Grand Marshals of the Columbus Day parade.  A devoted member of the Sons of Italy, the Suffolk County Legislator was selected to lead the parade, for her contributions as an Italian American woman in government.

“I am proud to march in this parade and proud of all the contributions that Italian American’s have made to this country, especially here in New York, where many immigrants first set foot in America.” -Legislator Leslie Kennedy.
