Legislator Leslie Kennedy Educates Elementary Students on the historical significance behind Flag Day
The community of Lake Grove celebrated Flag Day with a special ceremony hosted by Eugene Auer Memorial School. Legislator Leslie Kennedy spoke to elementary students, faculty, Veterans and Lake Grove residents regarding the historic significance of Old Glory; the American Flag. Eugene Auer Memorial Students gave special speeches about the American Flag and what it meant to them. Legislator Kennedy spoke of gratitude and honor to the Catholic War Veterans, members of the VFW Post 4927, who were present at the Flag Day Celebrations.

Legislator Leslie Kennedy educated the student body on facts about the American Flag from Besty Ross and the 50th star added to less known points like the meanings of each color of the flag as dictated by Charles Thompson. After her speech, Legislator Kennedy gave students a pop quiz on how well they know their Flag Facts. She left extremely impressed by the student body’s knowledge and commended teachers on a job well done in educating our youth about the heritage of our Nation. In closing, Kennedy left the students with a request to remember all our flag embodies.
