Smithtown Native and Suffolk County Legislator, Leslie Kennedy helped The Smithtown Historical Society kick off it’s annual Spring Farm Festival this past Sunday, May 31st. The annual event is meant to celebrate the agriculturally rich history and farming heritage, which has played a dominate role in 350 years of Smithtown past, present and hopeful future. The fun-filled day of interactive learning and field games, feeding farm animals, enjoying live music, food and shopping from local vendors, was held at the historical society’s east campus. Legislator Leslie Kennedy enjoyed the many authentic demonstrations and exhibits with her husband, Suffolk County Comptroller John M. Kennedy Jr., which included the Islip Horsemen’s Association performing drills and formations, an antique tractor display and planting vegetation for the Grow to Give Garden which helps provide food for Smithtown food pantries.
“Smithtown has such a rich history and I am excited to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the town, the Historical Society always does a great job putting together events that highlight the unique culture and landscape of Smithtown’s past and present” – Suffolk County Legislator Leslie Kennedy
