Legislator Kennedy Supports France at Dr. Who Convention

LESLIE KENNEDY HONORS LONG ISLAND DR. WHO CONVENTION

Legislator Kennedy (R-Nesconset) had the pleasure of presenting the Long Island Dr. Who Convention with a proclamation this weekend at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Hauppauge. Dr. Who is a British sci-fi television program about a time traveling doctor; it has a large fan base all over the world including the New York metropolitan area. The convention is a place for fans of Dr. Who to gather and share their love for this wildly popular television show.

drwho1Leslie got a firsthand look into their fandom and all of its intricacies. As the fandom is quite large the Hyatt attracted visitors from all over New York and the tri-state area to take part in this three day convention. In light of the terrorist attacks in Paris the Dr. Who convention put up a board in support of the victims in Paris. The board was filled with messages of encouragement, and Legislator Kennedy also wrote kind words in support of the victims.

“I was very fortunate to take part in this convention, the fans of this show are very passionate, and they have a lot of fun with this created world of Dr. Who, they also show a lot of compassion for our friends in France who have suffered a tragic and senseless loss, the fans that I met were wonderful kindhearted people, I am very glad that we were able to support this convention right here in our own backyard for all the Whovians in the area” said Legislator Kennedy
