Legislator Kennedy Kicks Off Blood Drives at Smithtown Day

People came out in crowds to the Smithtown Day Festival this past Sunday. The stunning weather, great entertainment, and thrilling activities all promoted a massive turnout along Main Street. Legislator Leslie Kennedy and her fellow volunteers were also present, as they hosted the first of a series of blood drives. 57 dedicated residents in the Smithtown area generously took the time out of their day to donate blood and to help give the gift of life to those in need, not to mention collect a pair of free tickets to see the New York Mets in action!

This blood drive was only Leslie’s first stop in her mission to restock Suffolk County’s blood supply. The next blood drive will be held on Sunday June 14th at the Centereach Street Fair on Mark Tree Rd; those who donate will again be given two free tickets to attend a New York Mets baseball game! There will be several more blood drives held throughout Central Suffolk County in the coming months.

Blood drive 2015 (Small)“A special thanks goes out to all of the volunteers who assisted and donated, as well as the nurses and aides from the New York Blood Center who worked tirelessly to collect as much blood as possible!”

Legislator Kennedy and the office of the 12th Legislative District look forward to the next event and hope to have even more success; all are encouraged to come down and help save a life!
