In the kNOw Presents Life Saving Assembly

Kings Park in the kNOw will present its third annual Middle School presentation, Preventing Destructive Decisions on Thursday. On March 10th, 2016 the community coalition will educate tweens and parents, at the William T. Rogers Middle School, about the dangers of underage consumption of alcohol and other substances.

While the topic of opiates and heroin will be a part of the presentation, the focus will be on the steps kids may take which lead to narcotic abuse. The discussion will be presented by Michael’s Hope, a non-profit organization that focuses on middle and high school assemblies, in order to raise awareness about the current heroin epidemic. The group of young adults, each of whom have been affected by addition in some way, will tell their stories in a way that relates to middle schoolers.

The founder of Onward Forward, Tatiana Green will also speak at the special assembly. Green, a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor, has been featured on News12 “Heroin Diaries” series as well as the OASAS “Combat Heroin” national campaign. Tatiana Green uses her true stories of recovery and loss combined with her sassy personality to reach kids in an enjoyable and educational way.

The third annual Preventing Destructive Decisions will begin at 7 PM at William T. Rogers Middle School in Kings Park. Narcan training will be offered at the end of the presentation. All who participate will receive a free life-saving Narcan kit after training.  Call to reserve your seat 631-544-9247.
