Halloween may be around the corner, but you don’t have to wait to spend a day being thrilled, spooked and shocked out of that Superhero Costume. This weekend there’s endless fun and attractions you won’t want to miss out on, right here in Smithtown. From a kid-friendly costume parade in St. James to a frightening haunted house in Hauppauge, Smithtown Today’s Haunted Weekend Guide has your calendar action packed.

St. James – Halloween Parade and Haunted House

Is there a better way to show off your brilliant Halloween Costumes than parading down Lake Avenue? On Sunday, October 25th, line up at the Capital One Bank on the corner of Woodlawn and Lake Ave, starting at 12:30 PM. The Parade Route runs along Lake Avenue to the St James Gazebo at the Railroad Station. After the parade, try your luck at winning one of many Best Costume prizes. Candy, prizes and other sugary sweets will be given out at the end of the parade, plus an after party at the Deepwells Haunted House. Deepwells Haunted Mansion

One of the best Haunted Mansions and community favorite is the Deepwells Farm County Park Haunted Mansion. Sponsored by the Deepwells Farm Historical Society, this haunted tour includes an interactive tour of the mansion, filled with life like ghosts and ghouls, terrifying sound and lighting effects. Kid Friendly BB & GG Corn Maze

Young Families looking for a great way to entertain the kids, without giving them terrible nightmares, will love BB & GG’s spectacular Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch. Relax along a beautiful hayride, snack on farm-picked roasted corn and get lost in a giant Corn Maze. This year, Bill Borella stocked the farmland with gorgeous Halloween decorations for sale, an apple stand, baked treats and caramel apple stations. Stop by the Nurseries farm stand for even more of the freshest fruits, vegetables and gorgeous hand-picked flower bouquets. The endless farmland is brimming with huge pumpkins and a variety of gourds, you can pick in the patch or grab one from the nursery, which is also filled with great Halloween decor to purchase. Wicks

For the not so faint of heart, head to Wicks Farm’s haunted house, featuring an interactive labyrinth you will never find your way out of. Young children and adults with bad tickers, will enjoy the daytime festivities, like Spookville and the Spooky night hay ride. Wicks Farm is located at 445 New York 25A, in  St. James.For more information call: 631-584-5727. Hauppauge – Chamber of Horrors

This year’s “Trilogy of Fear” has three very creepy themes… expect gruesome body parts and the Maniac’s that chopped them in the Maniac Manor. Toxic City is the CDC most awful nightmare, equipt with biological warfare, outbreaks and mutants.  Finally, think of the final scene of the Ring, when you enter the Witch Asylum.  Family Days for the younger children in the family operate on Sundays from 1pm-4pm. On November 1st, the final night of the Trilogy of Fear will be a full contact extravaganza with no lights and no rules! The final evening is 18 years or older. Standard Admission is $25 per person. Skip to the front of the line with RIP Admission, $35 online of $40 at the box office. Upgrade to a death certificate for $60 and receive unfettered access to the best nights.
